Educations for Road Users

Trainings, Information Efforts and Campaigns Towards Road Users

Since training is defined as a process whereby to change human behavior as intended, training people to display behavior expected for traffic safety has become even more important. Such training is carried out through both formal and informal education bodies as well as driver training courses.

Road user behavior is one of the critical reasons behind road accidents. Road user behavior is determined by their previous and current training as well as their past travel experiences. Traffic does not concern only the drivers, pedestrians, passengers, cyclists and riders that we define as types of road users but also children, our future, the teachers who raise them, scholars, traffic law enforcers and engineers to design and construct road transport infrastructures and policy makers -i.e., the entire society.

“A sustainable, human-focused traffic training comprising of all types of road users can be defined as one of the most effective instruments to reduce traffic accidents.”

Earlier any individual has been equipped with traffic awareness and responsibility, the more effective the result. Children trained on traffic at early ages not only can protect themselves in the current traffic environment but as drivers and pedestrians of the future, they shall also form the core of the adult society cognizant of their responsibilities.

Starting from pre-school period, traffic and road safety training shall be lifelong (for drivers, pedestrians and passengers) for all road users. A lifelong education and training policy would help road users understand the importance of road safety as well as certain measures.

By the General Directorate of the Turkish National Police and the General Command of the Gendarmerie under the Ministry of Interior “Traffic Investigators, Red Whistle for Violating Drivers, Tunnel of Life, Pedestrians First, Good Day at School Mr. Driver, Mobile Traffic Training Truck, Mobile Traffic Training Vehicle and similar traffic safety training activities and projects continue to be provided for road users, especially for the children and the youth, which can be expressed by thousands.
